Jillian Towne grew up in the Capital Region of upstate New York. She always loved school, and was an avid reader and writer from a young age. As a teenager, Jillian began babysitting and eventually working at the town youth program that she attended as a child. During this time, she also developed a keen interest in food, from both a culinary and food writing perspective. While attending college in Burlington, VT she worked as an afternoon teacher in the YMCA prekindergarten program. She also volunteered for the Champlain College Young Writers’ Conference, and interned at Eating Well magazine. After graduating with a degree in writing, Jillian moved to Nashua, NH to work at Camp Lovewell and as a classroom assistant in Nature’s Pathways, with the eventual goal of pursuing her culinary interests. However, as soon as she began working in the classroom, she fell in love with working with children and families. She eventually refocused, and completed her certificate in early childhood education (Infants-Grade 3) through the Community College System of New Hampshire. Since, she has continued to grow in a leadership capacity on campus, supporting both the early childhood education and K-12 programs. Jillian and her husband live in Milford with their daughter and high-maintenance but adoring rescue dog, where they enjoy family walks, cooking and baking together, and spending time with extended family and friends.
