- The Fall Festival Makes a Comeback
Two community member Fall Festival traffic duty volunteers showed up in style, wearing traffic cone costumes! For the first time in many years, the 2nd Nature Academy Fall Festival returned with a bang last Saturday, bringing joy to those who had never experienced it before and also to those who remembered its greatness. With kids of all ages, parents, staff, and community members in attendance, the campus was filled with food, games, and fun fall activities. From bake sales, to pumpkin bowling, face tattoos, and a thrift store, there was plenty to indulge in that made this event memorable. In fact, the thrift store, which was planned and run by the High School Service Learning class, was dedicated to raising funds for the mental health organizations Unbreakable and KyleCares . It was a huge success, raising $550 that will go directly to these organizations to support mental health initiatives. We would like to thank everyone in the community who attended and contributed to making this year’s Fall Festival special. We would also like to give an extra special thank you to the SNA Community Committee (SNACC) for making this event possible!
- SNA Runners Make Their Mark
The SNA Cross Country team has come a long way this season growing in both focus and dedication. What began a few years ago as a small afterschool club has turned into a serious and competitive team. “It’s serious," said Freshman Braela Stearns who has been on the team in previous years and now is helping to coach. “We only have these after school clubs if we have people who are willing to participate and put forth their all.” This season, which ran from early September to late October, has been full of highlights. For example, many personal records (PR’s) were set, and the team put on an impressive performance at the Tri-County meet, where 6th grade runner Aela Ayer placed 6th in her division. Despite some injuries, the team has been giving their all this season, with team members like Braela Stearns and Noah Auger stepping up to help coach. The SNA cross country team poses for a photo after their meet Practices mix hard work with fun and creative warm ups. For example, Braela explained their favorite out-of-the-box warm up is called “Boom, Boom, Pause,” a drill Coach Yanna usually leads designed to help with cadence and breathing. The team hopes the SNA community recognizes their effort and supports them as they continue to build their program.
