This month The Newstonian staff is excited to shine a light on the work of Miss Megan Sweeney, SNA’s Music teacher whose passion for music and teaching has brought energy and creativity to our school.

Miss Megan, as her students affectionately refer to her, always knew she wanted to be a teacher, but it wasn’t until high school that she realized that music was her true path. Music, for Miss Megan, is a way to express emotions, to connect with others, and to feel grounded. “It is the first thing I turn to, no matter how I am feeling,” she said. She tries her best to keep students engaged through hands-on projects like The Soundtrack of My Life, where students used music to tell their own personal stories.
This year she hopes to increase performance opportunities by continuing the tradition of performing at graduation and by finding other new and exciting opportunities to incorporate music into SNA activities. With degrees from UMass Lowell and years of experience teaching gymnastics, dance, and music, Miss Megan continues to build a music program where every student feels seen, heard, and inspired.
